Title of book:  The Butterfly Lion Author:   Michael  Morpurgo Genre:    Children's Story Characters:   Bertie, Millie and The White Prince Setting:   Timbavati in Africa, England and France Summary: This book is about a boy called Bertie that lived in a compound. Bertie wasn't aloud outside the gates of the compound.  In the compound he found a white lion that didn't have a mother because his father had killed its mother because it was eating all the cattle. So he ran out of the compound gates and took the white lion home with him. The white lion cub and him were like best friends, they slept,played and ate together. After a few years his parents sold the white lion to a Frenchman because he had to go to boarding school in England, he was very sad. At his holidays in boarding school he always met up with a girl called Millie so they could fly kites together. When he had ended  boarding school he joined the army and went to war. Our visit to the Sinai Academy

Last week we visited the Sinai Academy in Bloubergrant. It was very cool, we learnt about the Jewish stories, the Jewish religion and Judaism. The Rabbi separated the girls and boys and the boys had to wear a kippah. We watched and heard the Rabbi blow the ram's horn and saw the Torah, scrolls, Ark and prayer shawl in the synagogue. Then the Rabbi gave us coins and we put the coins into a tin. After that we walked down the road to the Senior Sinai Academy campus the children there spoke English and Hebrew, we had a shabbat there, it was very interesting we listened to lots of different Jewish songs and the children there taught us how to light candles at a shabbat. We ate challah bread which was really yummy and we drank grape juice. Every room you walk into in the Sinai Academy has a mezuzah. It was a great outing I really enjoyed it. It was amazing!

The Grade 4 Camp

Last week we were on camp.   We went to Giraffe House and saw a reptile show there was a frog, tortoise and a snake then we went on a walk and saw zebras,giraffe and ostrich then we fed the goats and ate lunch. Then we went to Simonsberg Christian Center and went to our dormitory and then we played S T O P spells stop. The next day we got put into our groups then we started the activity's, the first activity my group did was the team building activity.   My favorite activity was the obstacle course and the river rafting and I really liked the bonfire. I loved the night hike when we gazed at the stars, building forts in the forest and swimming in the pool. I couldn't wait for home time so I could go home on the bus and see my mom I was very tiered. I LOVED CAMP IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
